Chicken Potato Paprikash with Dumplings
Ingredients
- Chicken drumsticks and thighs
- 2 onions
- 1 large carrot
- Potatoes (amount to taste)
- Vegeta (dry seasoning), ground red paprika, salt, pepper
- Water
- For the dumplings: 2 eggs, a little parsley, salt, semolina, a splash of milk, all-purpose flour
Steps
- Clean and chop the onions and carrots, then place them in a pot with a little oil or lard to sauté.
- Bone and trim the chicken drumsticks and thighs, removing any cartilage, then cut them in half.
- Add the chicken to the pot with the onions and carrots to braise together.
- Prepare the dumplings: in a bowl, whisk 2 eggs, add parsley, salt, semolina, a splash of milk, and all-purpose flour to get a slightly thick mixture (stiffer dumplings).
- Once the meat and vegetables are braised, pour water into the pot.
- Add the chopped potatoes, dry seasoning, ground red paprika, salt, and pepper, then let it simmer.
- When the potatoes and meat are cooked, use a spoon to scoop up the dumpling mixture and drop them into the boiling paprikash.
- Cook for a few more minutes until the dumplings float to the top and are fully cooked, then remove from the heat and serve.
